Exit and Entry Points
Keeping An Eye on IPC
The end of term saw most mileposts completing a unit of IPC Learning. The completion of a unit is celebrated with an exit point where children can get the opportunity to share their learning with their family, or buddy classes, and reflect on how their learning has developed throughout the unit.

At the beginning of a new unit we have an Entry Point, which provides the ‘wow’ factor and gets children excited and motivated to learn about their new unit of learning. Take a look at some of the excited Exit Points and Entry Points we have been completing throughout the school.

Early Years

Pre Nursery

Pre-Nursery made biscuits for their exit point in their Changes unit. During the baking process they observed the changes in ingredients.

As an Entry Point to their unit Bears, Pre-Nursery had a Teddy Bears picnic.

Nursery

In Nursery the exit point to Houses and Homes was a visit to their homes. Each class visited the houses of their friends.

The Entry Point to Let’s Pretend was looking for clues to find which fairy tale characters had visited the Early Year’s garden.

Milepost 1

For their exit point to All Dressed Up - Clothes, Milepost One had an Extravaganza Hat Parade!!! The children had to use their skills learnt during the unit to design a hat for the parade.

For their Entry Point into Our World - The Environment, Milepost One had great fun having a treasure hunt around the Early Years and Milepost One playground to discover the school environment.

Milepost 2

For their Entry Point to Active Planet, Milepost 2 had to create a relief centre for an earthquake that had happened. They had to plan out the different rooms that would be required – for example a registration room or first aid area.

As the Active Planet unit is a long unit, Milepost Two will not be completing their exit for another couple of weeks. When they do hold their exit point they will be having an exhibition on their learning to share with parents.

Milepost 3

Parents came to see the learning that had taken place within the Investigators unit. Here are some pictures of them sharing and discussing their learning.

Milepost Three were lucky enough to have two Entry Points for Black Gold. The first was to clean up an oil spill, and the second was to see the effect that oil has on bird’s feathers. Not only was this an enjoyable Entry Point, they also started learning about oil and the effect it has on the environment and wildlife.
